Emmy Russell shared a rare, heartwarming glimpse of her relationship with fellow singer-songwriter Tyler Ward on Instagram on Thursday evening (January 30). The former American Idol contestant commemorated “the last night it’s just us,” before the parents-to-be welcome their first child.
“Tonight us, tomorrow parents,” Russell wrote in her caption as she shared photos and videos with Ward. “Can’t wait to see who you are as a dad and who I am as a mom, but know I’ll always cherish when it was just us 🤍” Ward shared the video on his Instagram story, hailing the mother-to-be “a total champ,” as they awaited their first child’s arrival. “What a time to be alive!”
Russell, 26, announced that she and Ward, 40, were expecting their first child together when she appeared with her mother, Patsy Russell, on an episode of Got It From My Momma. The podcast was recorded live on Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee. Host Jennifer Vickery Smith told the live audience that “Emmy Rose has some special news to share tonight.”
Russell debuted her growing baby bump as she announced, “y’all, me and Tyler are expecting a baby girl. …I’m so excited. Right out of American Idol, I didn’t know. So, you know, that’s kind of been the journey. So I’m so excited. I’m so looking forward to it. …This is the first time I’m actually fully announcing that. I thought it was fitting for this.”
Russell, granddaughter of legendary country star Loretta Lynn, is one of several artists welcoming a baby into the family in 2025. This month, Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney welcomed Baby No. 4 with his wife, and rising artist Sarahbeth Taite welcomed Baby No. 2 with her husband. Jordan Davis announced earlier this week that Baby No. 4 is on the way, and Lauren Alaina recently shared a sweet pregnancy announcement in a full circle music video.
