Sheriff Greg Speck reports that Deputy Brandon Smith investigated a single vehicle accident at approximately 4:30 AM. A Cattle truck owned by Williams Cattle Company of London containing 32 head of cattle was traveling east on KY 80 approximately one-quarter mile past Squib-Ano Road.
The driver of the truck, Kenneth D. McCown, age 49, of Mount Vernon, KY received minor cuts but declined treatment.
The roadway was wet but it was not raining at the time of the accident. Mr. McCown stated the cattle shifted in the trailer and the vehicle became unstable. The vehicle left the right side of the roadway traveling down a grassy slope and overturned. The vehicle came to rest on its side. A few of the cattle were killed in the accident and several were injured.
The Hazardous Materials Special Response Team was called to pump the fuel tanks of the truck.
Also, assisting at the scene were the Kentucky State Police, members of the Stab Fire Department and Pulaski County Animal Control Officers.
