Chris Young reflected on his arrest in a Nashville bar last month on the latest episode of his podcast, The Quad with Chris Young. The country star returned to the weekly show with hosts Josh Gleave, Haley Mikenas and Ryan Bass, beginning the episode by admitting he “did not have ‘getting falsely arrested’ on my 2024 Bingo card.”
Young, 38, was accused of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and assault on an officer following an incident with Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents at a bar located in Midtown Nashville, Tennessee. Though an agent reported that Young “struck me on the shoulder,” and he pushed back to create space, video evidence surfaced that raised questions about the events of that evening. Surveillance footage appeared to show the agents moving toward the exit to leave, and as Young approaches them and appears to say something to the agents, the agent pushes the 6’4’’ country star backward. Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk announced in a statement days later that all charges against Young had been dismissed following a review of the evidence.

“If everybody’s not already seen the video, obviously…I did absolutely nothing wrong,” Young said on The Quad, a podcast that includes discussions around sports, music, movies and a hot take in each episode. Young also discussed the lack of public statements from the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission, why he remained silent throughout the week before his charges were dropped, reflected on details from the night of his arrest and more. “I do wanna say, just for anyone listening, thank you very, very much. There was a huge outpouring of support. And yeah, there’s like the 5% of people that’s like, ‘don’t touch a cop,’ that obviously didn’t watch the very last video that I posted that shows that I never even made contact with him.
“I didn’t ever think I would end up in jail in Nashville, and Metro (Nashville Police Department) was super polite and super nice,” Young said later. “When the video came out everybody was like, ‘oh absolutely not, that is not what happened.’ On Monday (January 22), it sounded like I’d sucker punched somebody, and on Wednesday (January 24), when the video came out, everybody’s like, ‘oh, no, that’s not what happened at all’
“But it’s over now. We’re back.”
Young is gearing up to release his next full-length studio album, Young Love & Saturday Nights, next month. The long-awaited project is Young’s most ambitious to date, featuring 18 tracks. Most recently, he released “Double Down,” which served as a “thank you” to fans who stuck by him following his arrest. The album also includes “Looking For You,” the David Bowie-inspired title track, “Right Now” and other highlights. It’s set to release on March 22, and Young will kick off his headlining “Young Love & Saturday Nights Tour 2024,” with special guest Bryan Martin, the following month.
“I’ve been living with it for so long, I’m so excited for people to actually be able to dig into it and hear all of it as a whole as opposed to one or two teaser clips,” Young said of Young Love & Saturday Nights in a previous interview with iHeartCountry, before he’d announced the album title and other details. “It’s always fun to post that stuff, but I want people to really dive into this album and enjoy the work that we’ve put into it.
“I know it’s gonna sound cliché, but this is one of my favorite projects I’ve ever made,” he continued. “If there was actually any inspiration for me being fired up and working on myself, it would probably be that the music is so good. I’m really, really proud of this project. I want people to hear it.”
