Daycare Where Infants Were Stabbed Was Reportedly A Birth Tourism Site

The illegal New York City daycare that was the scene of a horrific stabbing last week was reportedly a "birth tourism" site where pregnant women come to deliver their babies so that their children can be granted U.S. citizenship. According to the New York Post, women would come to the center, stay for around one month and were charged $4,600 plus the cost of supplies.

Sheng Long Peng, who lives in the area, told The New York Times that he would see pregnant women constantly coming in and out of the house with the homeowner. Another local resident, Elizabeth Lee, claimed that she saw different women show up to the three-story building with suitcases at least two times every week.

There were nine babies being cared for at the unlicensed daycare center when Yu Fen Wang stabbed three children and two adults. The children are all expected to survive.
